Perona Farms Sells Salmon Division in Two Parts
Food Specialties Division Ends Production
Since 1991, Perona Farms has produced a variety of award-winning smoked
salmon products distributed to restaurants, hotels, gourmet food stores,
supermarkets and consumers across the country. They have constantly strived
to maintain the highest quality products and have been the recipients of
many awards and taste test recognitions over the years.
Perona Farms is announcing today that they have reached
an agreement with two groups they have long respected to take over the salmon
production business.
Perona Farms Food Specialties customers will be turned over to Portier Fine
Foods of Mamaroneck, NY, a friendly competitor for over 15 years. (Portier
Fine Foods can be reached at 800-272-9463 or www.portierfinefoods.com.)
"The quality of the smoked salmon you will receive
from them is of the same quality that we have been producing for years," says Mark Avondoglio,
fourth-generation co-owner of the family-run business. "Like us, they
only use fresh fish and unlike us, they hand slice every side with machine
precision."
The 5,000 sq. ft. production plant at the 350 Andover Sparta Road location
will be rented out by Sedna, a major seafood supplier to Whole Foods and
other large retail grocery concerns across the country. Almost all salmon
associates are being re-hired by Sedna.
The Perona Farms name will not be sold and they will continue to produce
the World's #1 Rated Smoked Salmon for their own exclusive use for Weddings,
Banquets and Bruncheon. Smoked salmon will no longer be sold either wholesale
or retail.
"This move allows us to have a more concentrated
approach on the fast growing restaurant and catering side of the business," Avondoglio said. "We
now have more time to devote to new ideas for our wedding and party clients."
Customers with questions are encouraged to contact Mark Avondoglio at 973-729-6161.
Thank you to all of our loyal customers for your business since 1991.
